An online heart health test is a blood test that measures several markers linked to cardiovascular risk. It is typically ordered to screen for risk factors or to monitor known heart conditions.

What it measures

  • Total cholesterol — The total amount of cholesterol in your blood.
  • LDL cholesterol — Often called 'bad' cholesterol; higher levels can raise heart disease risk.
  • HDL cholesterol — Often called 'good' cholesterol; higher levels are generally protective.
  • Triglycerides — A type of fat in your blood; high levels may increase risk.
  • C-reactive protein (CRP) — A marker of inflammation that can be linked to heart risk.

Who it is for

This test is often ordered by primary care clinicians or cardiologists for adults with risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or a family history of heart disease.

Preparation

Fasting for 9–12 hours is often recommended before this test, but follow your clinician's instructions. Some tests may not require fasting.

Results and what they mean

Results are reported as numbers with reference ranges. A clinician interprets them in the context of your overall health. This is general information, not medical advice; discuss your results with a healthcare professional.
