The Central California Allergy Test is a blood test that looks for antibodies your immune system may make against common allergens found in California's Central Valley, such as pollens, dust mites, molds, and certain foods. It is ordered when a person has ongoing allergy symptoms and a clinician wants to identify likely triggers without skin testing.

What it measures

  • Total IgE — Overall level of allergy-related antibody in your blood.
  • Specific IgE to pollens — Antibodies against tree, grass, and weed pollens common in the region.
  • Specific IgE to dust mites and molds — Antibodies against indoor allergens like dust mites and mold spores.
  • Specific IgE to animal dander — Antibodies against cat, dog, and other animal proteins.
  • Specific IgE to foods — Antibodies against foods such as milk, egg, peanut, and wheat.

Who it is for

A primary care clinician, allergist, or immunologist typically orders this test for people with persistent sneezing, nasal congestion, itchy eyes, hives, or suspected food reactions.

Preparation

No fasting is required. Tell your clinician about any antihistamines or other medications you take, because some can affect allergy test results.

Results and what they mean

Results are reported as a level for each allergen, often grouped as low, moderate, or high. A clinician interprets these values alongside your symptoms and history; a positive result alone does not always mean you are allergic. This is general information, not medical advice.

Requesting the Central California Allergy Test in Alaska

Order online, choose a certified collection site in Alaska, and review results through a secure portal. No referral is required, and orders are processed confidentially. Access across Pacific is uneven, so confirming a site ahead of time is worthwhile.
